Michelle Keegan has been ‘inundated’ with offers from Hollywood following her performance in the smash-hit Netflix film Fool Me Once.
The 36-year-old actress debuted in Coronation Street for six years beginning in 2008, before moving on to appear in Our Girl, Ordinary Lies, Brassic, and Ten Pound Poms.
Her most recent appearance, in a Netflix series based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, has piqued the interest of Hollywood executives.
Michelle stars in the eight-part series as ex-military pilot Maya Stern, who believes she sees her dead husband on her nanny-cam, sparking a dramatic chain of events as she tries to solve the mystery.
After viewers admitted to ‘calling in sick’ to work to binge all of the episodes, Michelle is now reported to be ‘inundated with movie ideas and suggestions for potential new parts’.
‘The response to Fool Me Once has been overwhelming,’ a source has said.
‘The phone calls and offers have been coming in from Hollywood film executives, it’s different to anything Michelle has experienced before.
‘Netflix is a global platform, and the show has given her the opportunity to shine,’ they added when speaking to Mail Online.
‘Her career has already been a success but now her star is rising, everyone can feel that this is the beginning of something special,’ they continued.
‘Michelle feels lucky that she’s always played likeable characters but now she’s hoping to take it up a notch by landing a film role.
‘She aspires to play a dark character in a hard-hitting thriller, which will be a challenge that she’s completely ready for.’
Michelle confessed during a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show that she worried she would never work again after her character Tina was murdered in Coronation Street.
‘For me [Coronation Street] was a massive learning platform. I took a long, long time to decide to leave – it was very hard,’ she shared.
‘And then when they told me they were killing off my character and there was no going back I thought I would never work again.
‘My security was ripped away which made me push forward and work harder.’
Fool Me Once is streaming on Netflix.
