Ready, steady goo! Matt Hancock mucked in on I’m A Celebrity as he tackled his first Bushtucker Trial.
Last night, viewers saw the former health secretary covered in bug-infested gunk while taking part in the Beastly Burrows. Matt and fellow latecomer Seann Walsh, 36, had to navigate a series of dark underground tunnels – with surprises along the way.
‘A load of slurry just poured on my head,’ the 44-year-old exclaimed, before warning his teammate he was being ‘dumped on’ again. They retrieved six of a possible 11 stars.
At the beginning of the episode, Matt – after slipping on the bridge – entered a separate camp, where comedian Seann was waiting for him. They bonded over music, prompting the MP to spill he is a massive Ed Sheeran fan as he launched into his version of Perfect.
The duo were told they are undercover moles with a string of secret missions to complete, such as stealing someone’s hat.
They finally made their way into the main site, where their campmates were shocked to see Hancock. ‘Get it out of the way for me, please just say, “Next slide please”, and I’m happy,’ said radio host Chris Moyles, 48, before Matt complied.
A laughing Boy George, 61, warned Matt: ‘You’re really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from…’
Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, 59, told him, ‘You’re a brave man’, to which he responded: ‘Well, we’ll see how it goes.’
TV presenter Scarlette Douglas, 35, said in the bush telegraph: ‘Listen, Matt Hancock has come on, he obviously has something to prove, so hey, everyone’s got their own reasons as to why they’re here.’
I’m A Celeb… continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
