MasterChef: The Professionals hopeful Santosh Shah lost out on the winner’s title in tonight’s finale – so viewers have given him title of ‘people’s champion’.
Santosh, who works at Cinnamon Kitchen in London, has become a firm favourite because of his family values, and cheery demeanour.
In the grand finale of the cooking programme, Santosh went up against rivals Alex and Bart – with 25-year-old Alex taking home the win.
For their last task, the trio were given three hours and 15 minutes to create their ultimate three-course menu for judges Gregg Wallace, Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti.
Creating a series of dishes inspired by his Nepalese roots, with the buffalo he used coming across a little tough, and while delicious, sometimes a little too strong.
Ultimately it meant that he fell short at the final hurdle – and viewers were gutted for him, but agreed with the judges it was a tough, but right, call.
So instead, they clubbed together and decided to give him a new title of their own.
Santosh was therefore declared ‘people’s champion’ by MasterChef: The Professionals viewers, who were quick to share the love of the chef online and wish him the best.
Who won MasterChef: The Professionals 2020?
While Santosh may not have won, viewers were still delighted to see Alex come out on top.
The 25-year-old Essex lad is the fourteenth winner of the series, and now aspires to open his own restaurant.
‘I want to enjoy the moment and make the most of all the opportunities which may be out there. I have lots of ideas for a book and I really enjoyed the experience of being in front of the camera so would like to look into any chances there may be to do more of this,’ he said.
‘I will continue to work in the restaurant I do now, and I would like to keep learning and pushing myself. Then, hopefully one day, I will be able to achieve my big dream of owning my own restaurant.’
