Tyrique Hyde panicked when Ella Thomas told him they’d met previously, and he didn’t immediately remember, but in his defence, she did appear somewhat different.
Ella, 23, and Tyrique, 24, were paired together in the first episode when the public played Cupid in the series’ first vote.
Ella asked Tyrique, after a little awkward embrace and kiss, ‘Do you recall we’ve met before?’
He appeared to be completely bewildered.
‘When?’, he asked, and you could literally see the cogs turning frantically in his head.
Ella surprised him by informing him she had changed her hair colour.
This seemed to jog Tyrique’s memory. ‘Oh my days! I do remember you!’, he declared. ‘You look mad different now!’
He then paid Ella a complement by saying she looked “nicer now.”
However, not everyone thought he’d properly recalled their encounter and wasn’t merely saving face.
We’ve done some research to see if Tyrique was justified in his forgetting. A simple scan through Ella’s Instagram from March of this year reveals a drastically different look.
While Ella now prefers dark hair, only a few months ago she was all about the blonde, which may be when they met.
A fan of the show found the semi-vintage Instagram snap too and commented: ‘I’m not surprised Tyrique didn’t recognise you with blonde hair! You look so different.’
‘Anyone else here stalking to see what she looked like with blonde hair,’ added another. Guilty!
The snaps have meant that some viewers can now see where Tyrique was coming from: ‘She does actually look different with blonde hair. I believe him now.’
Tyrique also loves investigating a possible link with Jess Harding in tonight’s episode.
When Jess, 22, asks him how things are going with Ella, he says: ‘Obviously, it’s going well but I’m not closed off, I’ve said that from the jump to everyone.’
He quickly adds: ‘You looked sexy this morning.’
Jess asks Tyrique if his charming lines are something he often dishes out, to which he responds: ‘I’m honest! I say how I feel,’ before going on to add: ‘You’re a good kisser.’
