Love Island‘s Dr Alex George has scored his next showbiz gig, a new Classic FM radio show.
The 31-year-old medic rose to prominence in the 2018 season of the ITV juggernaut series before being dumped on day 57 alongside companion Alexandra Cane.
Alex has had a varied career since his stint on the dating programme, which is now hosted by Maya Jama, including involvement with mental health causes.
The reality star’s most recent project is a new optimism series on the classical music station, with the first episode premiering on Sunday evening.
Over the course of six weeks, Classic FM’s Uplifting Classics with Dr Alex George will showcase fifty of the most uplifting classics, including Jupiter, the Bringer of Joy from Gustav Holst’s The Planets.
Alex will present fascinating tales about the featured music and composers, as well as practical advice and recommendations on living a positive everyday life.
Uplifting Classics will be Alex’s second Classic FM show, following his hit first series Inner Harmony last year, which focused on health, well-being, and the advantages of listening to and performing classical music.
Alex said: ‘I am so excited to be returning to Classic FM for this brand new series. I listen to classical music every day, and I find it such a positive and uplifting influence on my mood and productivity.
‘I know how difficult January can be for many, and so to be able to share some of the greatest Uplifting Classics every week and help boost the mood of Classic FM’s listeners is a privilege.
‘I really hope that during the next six weeks, I can spread my passion for classical music, share helpful advice on staying positive when times are tough, and get the nation feeling good for 2023.’
Alex recently disclosed that he had begun his New Year’s detox early, having decided to stop drinking before Christmas.
During an episode of BBC Breakfast, the TV personality discussed his sober lifestyle and revealed how much money he had saved since giving up alcohol.
‘I’ve done research and alcohol is so expensive, if you want a nice beer in Manchester or London or any other major cities, you’re looking at £6 to £8,’ he explained to hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay.
‘I think I’ve saved probably about £1000 in the last month, between cabs, eating food that you have the next morning after a few drinks.’
Love Island is available to stream on ITVX.
