Love Island 2022 is set to open its doors to footballer Michael Owen’s daughter and Great British dressage rider Gemma Owen.
The fiery young singleton will be introduced to viewers when series eight launches on ITV2 next week – and she can’t wait to have a ‘really fun summer’.
Gemma joins a juicy line-up of contestants hoping to find their type on paper.
Here’s everything you need to know about her.
Who is Gemma Owen?
Gemma Owen is an international dressage rider and business owner from Chester.
She is also the daughter of former professional footballer Michael Owen, who played as a striker for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Stoke City, and Manchester United.
‘Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family,’ she says. ‘My dad was a professional football player. I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11-years-old.
‘I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive.’
When it comes to relationships, Gemma reveals she’ll always go for what she wants.
‘But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection,’ she shares.
‘I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me.’
Gemma recently launched her own swimwear line, a luxury collection, called OG Beachwear.
Promoting her new line, the entrepreneur shared photographs of herself posing in a one-piece from her own luxury collection, which includes bikinis starting at £130, and swimming trunks at £110.
Dad Michael couldn’t have been prouder and encouraged his fans to follow the brand online, adding: ‘Pretty damn proud of my daughter launching her new @ogbeachwear brand.’
