Lorraine Kelly’s comments regarding Nigel Farage’s debut on I’m A Celebrity drew over 300 complaints, according to Ofcom.
The broadcasting watchdog received 354 complaints over a November 21 edition of the ITV daytime programme in which the Scottish broadcaster, 63, expressed her surprise at the age of the pro-Brexit activist.
Stating she was convinced he was a ‘hell of a lot older’ than 59, Lorraine continued: ‘That’s astonishing. That shows you get the face that you deserve.’
Some viewers expressed their discomfort over the ‘body shaming’ on X, formerly known as Twitter, at the time, with one writing: ‘I’m no fan of Nigel but Lorraine that comment was below the belt. You never would say that about a woman.’
Others, however, did see the funny side of Lorraine’s comment, with one calling it a ‘little gem’ and another sharing they found the ‘savage’ comment hilarious.
Nella Rose and Fred Sirieix’s heated argument on I’m a Celebrity… I Need to Get Out of Here! Ofcom received around 900 complaints.
The broadcasting watchdog validated 907 complaints over the November 21 programme, including 861 relating to the disagreement when First Dates actor Fred, 51, said that he was old enough to be YouTuber Nella, 26,’s father according to their ages.
Nella, who had lost both of her parents, addressed the Road Trip host and, although accepting his apologies, stated that she no longer wanted to speak to him and would not eat any of the food he had cooked.
After completing a job, Nella and Fred appeared to mend fences by moving into a luxury camp and, critically, a more intimate environment with only three other campmates.
Nella and Fred then paired up to represent their crew in a battle against Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard and JLS star Marvin Humes from the Away Camp.
They took turns dunking their opponents in an ice tank to win points, with Nelle and Fred exchanging high fives and hugging at the end of the challenge, which they won.
During the programme on November 22, an altercation Nella had with Farage over immigration resulted in 856 Ofcom complaints about ‘alleged racial offence.’
During the conversation, the Catfish UK host accused the GB News presenter of wanting individuals like her ‘gone’ from the UK when she confronted him about comments he made about cutting immigration levels.
Nella asked the former Ukip leader ‘apparently you’re anti-immigrants’ which she said she had read off the internet, before asking ‘why don’t black people like you?’
Farage said ‘you’d be amazed, they do’, to which Nella replied ‘so everyone hates you for no reason?’
Farage said the accusations were ‘grossly unfair’ before adding: ‘All I’ve said is we cannot go on with the numbers coming to Britain that are coming.’
Farage said on GB News that the quantity of people coming to the UK was disrupting GP visits, to which Nella responded that it was due to the NHS’s ‘lacking fiunding.’
She added: ‘You want us gone, that’s all I understood.’
Farage replied that Rose was not listening to him, before adding: ‘We can agree to disagree.’
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
