Lord Alan Sugar is in big trouble over accusations. The Apprentice competitors are not permitted to use the lavatory once they reach the boardroom.
And his renowned niece, actress Rita Simons, is the one who is giving him a hard time.
Rita’s aunt Ann, a Hollyoaks and EastEnders star, has been married to BBC icon Lord Sugar for over 50 years, and Rita grew up calling him ‘Uncle Alan’.
However, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Rita was not scared to confront her famous uncle after presenter Kate Garraway presented a new accusation from the set of The Apprentice.
An article in The Sun newspaper claimed that when Apprentice candidates are in the boardroom, ‘they aren’t all allowed to use the loo’.
Kate said: ‘[Lord Sugar] locks the doors and says “you’re not going to the loo”, and asked Rita ‘does he let you go to the loo when you go over to Auntie Ann’s and Uncle Alan’s?’
Rita was having none of it, as she looked directly into the camera and demanded: ‘Uncle Alan, what are you playing at?’
Holding the newspaper up and pointing at the article, Rita went on: ‘What if a lady needs the toilet?’
She then thought to herself: ‘Well you just say lady problems, don’t you?’
Rita went on to call Lord Sugar ‘a little bit grumpy, but he’s lovely’, and addressed the camera again: ‘Uncle Alan, let them go to the toilet. You’re fired!’
It comes after former Apprentice winner Tim Campbell told The Sun that once the boardroom doors are closed, that’s it — ‘no one is going to the loo’.
He said the scenes ‘can go on for hours, and ‘when candidates are in the foyer, they have to be ready for a session that does not stop until Lord Sugar has made a decision’.
The ‘meticulous’ Lord Sugar has been the face of The Apprentice since its UK launch in 2005.
Since then, he has employed and fired other applicants, as well as invested in successful business initiatives, including the first-ever winner, Tim, who now serves as an advisor to the TV personality and entrepreneur.
Lord Sugar has an estimated net worth of £1.21 billion, making him the 138th richest person in the UK.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
