For a Halloween special of the ITV daytime show, Loose Women transformed into the Loose Witches, and Nadia Sawalha’s eerie metamorphosis more than fulfils the brief.
The 58-year-old terrified the other panellists as The Grand High Witch from Roald Dahl’s The Witches.
Nadia began the episode in the same manner as the character in the book and movie, by blending in with society via the use of a gorgeous disguise.
Throughout the special broadcast, an epic transformation was foreshadowed, and when the hour-long presentation came to a close, a terrible visage was revealed.
A cloud of green smoke formed in front of a cauldron, and as it dissipated, the new Nadia appeared. A bald head, huge ears, enormous hands, and black eye makeup completed the witch costume.
Congratulations to the Loose Women hair and cosmetics crew, who are vying for the Strictly championship!
The former EastEnders star’s acting abilities were put to good use in the dramatic presentation, not simply her costume and hair/makeup.
Reciting the character, who was played by Anne Hathaway in the 2020 movie, she said: ‘Everywhere I look, I see the repulsive sight of hundreds, thousands of revolting little children.’
The crowd, who were all dressed as witches, yelled as Olivia Attwood said she was afraid.
The rest of the panellists got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up in terrifying costumes (but no one quite topped Nadia).
A new panellist has been added. Olivia, 32, rose to prominence on the sunny Love Island but made a superb snow witch, leading us to believe that the winter version should take place in The Alps.
While main panellist Kaye Adams, 60, did her best Winifred imitation, she couldn’t stop calling her co-stars’sisters’ throughout the spooktacular event, exactly like Bette Midler in Hocus Pocus.
Jane Moore, 61, played the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. She also had her own dramatic moment when the three other witches showered her in water at the end of the episode.
‘I’m melting,’ she said as the credits rolled.
Everyone had a Happy Halloween! If you still need a spooky dose, check out how other celebs are spending Halloween here.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
