Locke and Key fans get the tissues ready – the hit Netflix series is coming to an end.
The third installment of the fantasy horror series will be the last after Netflix bosses and the series creators confirmed it was coming to an end.
Premiering in 2020, the series is an adaptation of the comic book series by Joe Hill, and tells the story of a group of children who move into a new home following their father’s death, soon discovering that the house is not all that it seems as they discover a set of keys with magical powers.
The series has been released on Netflix in full today, so you can binge all eight episodes.
Here’s which familiar faces you can expect to see for one last time:
Who will be returning for Locke and Key series 3?
Emilia Jones
The middle Locke sibling Kinsey will be back and Emilia Jones will once again portray the character.
Series two saw the artistic Kinsey involved in a confrontation with Gabe, who started dating her in order to collect the keys but ended up developing genuine feelings for her.
This confrontation ultimately saw antagonist Dodge defeated and Lucas Caravaggio receiving a second chance.
Jackson Robert Scott
The youngest Locke sibling will be back as Jackson Robert Scott returns to the cast.
Bode’s natural curiosity peaks in the second series of the show and he becomes an integral part of the plot to bring down Dodge – though things go awry as he is taken hostage in a bid to force Duncan into forging a new key.
Connor Jessup
Despite posting an emotional goodbye to the show on his Instagram page, Connor Jessup has confirmed he will be returning to Locke and Key as eldest Locke sibling Tyler.
The end of season two saw Tyler pack up and drive away for a new life in Boston after experiencing tonnes of turmoil, including the death of his love interest Jackie Veda after she becomes swept up in Dodge’s evil master plan.
He also refused an offer from his siblings of using the memory key siblings, which means he will soon forget all of the things he experienced living in Keyhouse.
Darby Stanchfield
Head of the Locke Family Nina will appear in series three with Darby Stanchfield reprising the role.
Series two saw Bode and Kinsey use the memory key on their mother which allows people to comprehend magic at any age, so it looks like she will finally be in on all of the mystical mayhem that takes place in the Locke home.
Aaron Ashmore
Duncan, the brother of Nina’s deceased husband and the Locke children’s father Rendell, is a fan favourite character in Locke and Key, and Aaron Ashmore is set to portray the character once more in series three.
He also experiences the effects of the memory key during series two and joins his nephews and niece in facing off against Dodge, creating the demon key which leads to the villain’s downfall.
Kevin Durand
Frederick Gideon has become a main character in Locke and Key, portrayed by Kevin Durand.
Frederick, a soldier fighting for the British Empire during the American Revolutionary War, was summoned by Eden to vanquish the Locke family and collect the keys and could be the next antagonist the family faces in series three.
Petrice Jones
Scot Cavendish was another character to leave for a new life at the end of series 2, but actor Petrice Jones has confirmed he will make an appearance in series 3.
The character headed to England as series 2 wrapped up to take part in a film programme after his relationship with Kinsey develops and the group survives the wrath of Dodge.
Sherri Saum
Sherri Saum will return to Locke and Key as Locke family friend Ellie Whedon.
Ellie became a key part of series one after bringing Dodge back who then brutally stabbed her to death, though Ellie made a return during series 2 through the Black Door when it was briefly reopened.
Coby Bird
Ellie’s teenage son Rufus will return to the show played by actor Coby Bird.
Rufus was part of one of series 2’s most touching scenes as he reunited with his mother after she returned through the Black Door after Rufus was forced to move to Nebraska following her death.
Laysla De Oliveira
Despite Dodge being defeated during series two, actress Laysla De Oliveira is expected to make an appearance in the third and final series of the show.
First introduced as a mysterious woman living in the grounds of the Key House, Dodge became series one and two’s antagonist as her tireless mission to assemble all of the keys was unveiled.
She was vanquished at the end of series 2, and it looks like the evil demon is gone for good after Gabe’s villa collapses into the sea.
