Kim Kardashian said, through tears, that she considered never speaking with Kanye West again because of his antisemitic remarks.
Over the last year, the Gold Digger rapper has generated controversy with antisemitic statements, culminating in his being banned from Twitter and Instagram for breaking the social media networks’ policies.
According to a new BBC documentary, the 46-year-old previously said that Jewish people were “working together to keep him back.”
Kim, 42, breaks down in tears to her sister Khloé Kardashian, 39, in the latest episode of The Kardashians on Disney Plus after her ex-husband made headlines again for his antisemitism, admitting that her ‘instinct’ over the controversy was: ‘Wow, I can never talk to this person again,’ but this changed when she thought of her children.
From 2014 to 2022, the reality star was married to Kanye West, with whom she had four children: North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago.
In the episode, Kim speaks with Khloé after an article regarding Kanye’s antisemitic words shows on TV, which also includes him wearing a T-shirt with the message “White Lives Matter.”
Kim expresses that she is ‘not ok,’ breaking down in tears as she tells her sister that she hasn’t changed her wardrobe in two days and is an hour late for a meeting.
‘It’s quite perplexing for me. It’s so different from the person I married because that’s who I loved, who I remember, and who I… you know? ‘I’ll go to any length to have that person back,’ she says.
Kim admits that she ‘feels horrible’ for Kanye and speculates that he may not even ‘feel bad for himself’ because of the fallout from his words.
Khloé expresses her “heartbreak” at seeing her sister in “such much suffering,” noting that seeing Kanye is “like watching a car crash in slow motion.”
Kim says she didn’t tell Kanye about his anti-Semitic outbursts because he’d ‘definitely go off’ on her.
She then questioned whether her displaying her support for the Jewish community had prompted others to express their opposition to Kanye during his antisemitic rants.
‘I feel guilty that I posted something in support of the Jewish community, then people dropped him today. Is that my fault? That I posted that? And did that push them? And I should have just kept quiet? But I’m vocal about everything else… I never know what to do,’ she tells Khloé, while her sister insists that she did nothing wrong in speaking out.
Kim adds: ‘The whole situation is sad, and I don’t know how to emotionally manage it. I’m conflicted, because I don’t ever want to jump in and be a part of a downfall for the father of my kids.’
Speaking to the camera, Khloé emphasises that no one in her family “shares these hateful sentiments.”
‘We think it’s gravely irresponsible. We’re all very aware of the following that Kanye has, and how his words can be used to rile people up,’ she states.
Kim says that she is ‘so angry’ and ‘so sad’, admitting: ‘Your instinct wants to be like, “Wow, I can never talk to this person again,” but then you think of your babies. So I’m having a hard time figuring it out.’
The Kardashians is available to watch on Disney Plus.
