Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway has revealed that she suffered ‘nightmare’ flooding in her family home following the torrential downpours earlier this week.
The presenter was forced to call in the help of husband Derek Draper’s dad to deal with the damage in her north London house after flash floods hit the city.
It comes after Londoners saw their homes ‘wrecked’ and belongings ‘destroyed’ after flash floods poured into properties and disrupted the tube network following the extreme weather.
Millions of pounds of damage were inflicted after a month’s worth of rain fell in just over an hour on Monday evening.
Speaking on Friday’s show, Kate said: ‘I have lived the weather of the week. Severe flooding in the storms on Monday night.
The presenter added: ‘So I woke up on Tuesday morning – we live on a hill. You come in the door at [one] level, and then you go down some steps to the back garden [down the hill].

‘Everything underneath was completely flooded. It’s a total nuisance – a total nightmare.’
Speaking about tackling the flood, Kate said: ‘Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we managed to clear it out.’
Kate also went on to reveal a big regret, saying that in the clear out they threw away the pool by mistake the day before her family had planned a party.
It’s not the first time that Kate has experienced flooding in her home, after suffering a ‘calamitous’ build up to Christmas last year.
Posting on Instagram on New Year’s Eve, Kate said her family had experienced a ‘calamitous’ build up to Christmas.
‘We had a calamitous few days in the run up to Christmas – but we got through thanks to some wonderful people,’ she wrote on Instagram in December.
‘The guys from @bondconstruction who literally got on their hands & knees with me to bucket out water after we had 2 pipe leaks that flooded our home.’
It comes after Kate shared an update on her husband Derek, saying he’s ‘very up and down’ after his Covid-19 battle.
‘He’s very up and down. We’re certainly a long way out of the woods,’ Kate explained of her husband of 16 years.
Good Morning Britain airs on 6am at ITV.
