Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has confirmed that he might be in talks for a new West End musical.
Speaking on his Instagram stories on Sunday night, while propped up on some plump white pillows, the 32-year-old star and Great British Bake Off 2012 winner said that he was ‘in talks’ for a forthcoming West End Musical.
In the post, he said: ‘There was a headline last week that said I’d been signed for a lead role in a Lloyd Webber musical, but that isn’t true.
‘A few companies are in talks with my agent about, you know, the West End and stuff like that.
‘But nothing yet is certain.’
He also told fans about his motto in life. Speaking to his Instagram following, the Strictly Come Dancing star said: ‘In all honesty, my motto in life is f*** it!’
‘Or, flick the f*** it switch.
‘You know you think, f*** it. Flick the switch and do it. What have you got to lose? What have you got to lose?’
Earlier this week, the star was forced to miss the Strictly Live Show, after a lateral flow test came back positive.
The Great British Bake Off star and Strictly series runner-up took to Instagram to update fans expecting to see him for Sunday’s shows in Glasgow.
Lying in bed with a baseball cap on, he began: ‘Hi everyone, little bit of bad news I’m afraid. A lateral flow this morning has come back positive so I now have to sit here in this glamorous captivity until a result of a PCR come back – and I’m hoping they come back negative because I feel fine.
‘I’m triple jabbed, I had coronavirus in summer, so I’m hoping it’s just a false positive. But that does mean of course that I won’t be able to perform today or tonight in Glasgow, so I am very, very, very, very, very sorry if anyone was hoping to see me shaking my thing on the dance floor because I just won’t be there shaking it.
‘I’ll be in my hotel room – probably still shaking it – but that isn’t something I wish the world could see because it isn’t pretty, darling.
‘When you’re not in sparkles and sequins, it ain’t pretty – they’re the real me, vile [sic]!
‘Anyway, I’m sorry I can’t be there. I hope you enjoy the show nonetheless, and good luck to all my friend who are in the show today. I’m sorry I’m letting you all down.’
Earlier this week, it was also revealed that Whaite had landed his ‘dream job’ after reportedly being signed up to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s huge upcoming West End musical.
Speaking to the Sun, a source said: ‘John will take centre stage in the show.
‘It’s a dream job for him.
‘He really impressed on Strictly and when Andrew found out John has an excellent singing voice too, he reached out.
‘It could be an incredible new start for him.’
The celebrity chef is currently on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, alongside series winner Rose Ayling-Ellis and returner Maisie Smith, which continues until February 13.
