Alison Hammond landing an interview with an A-list star is always going to be iconic – and this may be the best one yet.
The This Morning presenter took her shot and attempted to serenade the iconic John Legend, in a chat via Zoom.
The beaming host, who is due to become a permanent Friday host, was linked up with the musician to discuss his new Christmas album, and ended up pitching herself in the process.
As soon as the opportunity presented itself, Alison tried her best to show off her vocals to his iconic track, Ordinary People, and soon John was joining in.
Though, like anyone would, the silky smooth tones were too much for Alison to compete with, and told him: ‘That wasn’t as good as you, babes. But I tried!’
Eventually she decided to just let herself be serenaded.
We’re not jealous in the slightest, Alison!
After the song, Alison asked John: ‘Was there a reason he didn’t call me to do a duet?!’
John awkwardly responded: ‘Well… you know, it just didn’t occur to me! Next time I will.’
We’re already putting in a pre-order, huns.
Alison has become known for her one-of-a-kind interviewing technique, that left Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in tears of laughter, and saw her getting engaged and married (kind of) to Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
It was announced last week that starting in the new year, Alison would front the Friday episodes of the ITV daytime show alongside Dermot O’Leary permanently.
The delighted Alison said she ‘hoped to make viewers proud’ as she becomes a permanent fixture.
However, she’s since been targeted by trolls as the decision means firm favourites Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes will move from their regular presenting job to become Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s school holiday replacements.
After talking to the team, and with the support of her co-stars including Josie Gibson, Alison has become determined to ‘put the matter behind her’.
She has since declared that she ‘won’t be bullied’, telling a fan that her ‘high self-esteem’ will keep her protected from the cruelty.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
