Joey Essex seemed to cause some off-screen drama during the Dancing On Ice final due to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.
The former TOWIE star placed second to Nile Wilson and his professional skating partner Olivia Smart on Sunday night, but there was some tension behind the scenes just before his programme.
On Monday’s This Morning, hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby – who also anchor Dancing On Ice – shared some off-air dirt when chatting with Nile and Olivia.
After Nile praised the team behind the ‘well oiled’ machine, Phil said: ‘Well, it wasn’t completely well oiled last night. We had to wait, because I think Joey Essex ripped his trousers.
‘Whether they were stitching him back together, we never quite got to the bottom of that one.’
Holly added: ‘We need a debrief.’
During the interview, Nile also stated that his experience on the ice taught him a lot about himself, particularly his acting abilities.
‘I didn’t know that about myself,’ he said, as Olivia quipped: ‘Might be on Corrie next!’
‘I certainly won’t be,’ he laughed. ‘I preferred playing Robbie Williams, the entertainer, to Leona Lewis on the bed in love. That was difficult!’
Nile’s winning performance also saw him create Dancing On Ice history by becoming the first male celebrity to perform the headbanger, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
‘That was so much fun. You just lay there and get thrown around,’ he joked, while he reflected on other dating parts of the routine.
‘It shouldn’t have been cleared by health and safety! It was four men holding scaffolding poles whilst I was doing a handstand two metres in the air,’ he laughed
‘Part of this process, it wasn’t necessarily about wining for us. It was about skating the best we could, and I really wanted to be bring something different to the show.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
