On Tuesday, Jeremy Vine yelled as a double-decker bus sped past his bicycle.
The broadcaster, who is an ardent biker, published the clip on social media earlier this week, noting that the close call occurred shortly before 6.30 a.m.
When Jeremy, 57, posted the footage on Twitter, he remarked, ‘What the heck,’ and could be seen approaching the bus driver after the vehicle came to a halt.
When pedalling across the city, the veteran TV actor, who frequently publishes pictures of his bicycle excursions on social media, was dressed in a neon helmet and a luminous jacket.
In a subsequent post, Jeremy uploaded the film from a different viewpoint, with his jaw open as the bus went by.
Jeremy was pictured with a black eye after falling from his penny-farthing last year.
‘There’s the black eye, if you want to have a look at it,’ he stated at the time, showing off his eye. It was a real show-stopper.
‘Basically, I was ok. I was out yesterday on it because I was trying to work out exactly what went wrong.’
As Jeremy came flying off his bicycle, he was eight feet off the ground and luckily on grass with no one nearby when calamity struck.
‘I didn’t notice the divot, my front tyre slid into it, and I fell over the handlebars and crashed on my head,’ he said in a video message at the time.
Doctors at A&E told Jeremy that he might have been gravely hurt and stated they’d never put something like this on a document for any patient before: ‘Was riding a penny-farthing.’
Louise Cheeseman, Director of Buses at TfL said in a statement: ‘The footage of this incident is very concerning. We demand the highest standards of London’s bus drivers and we are working with the operator, Arriva, who are carrying out an urgent investigation.’
