A first look at Jeremy Clarkson’s third season of Clarkson’s Farm has arrived, but there is some terrible news on the way.
After the Amazon Prime series premiered in 2021, the former Top Gear host and Kaleb Cooper have returned to discuss their shenanigans on Diddly Squat farm.
After considerable anticipation regarding its comeback following Clarkson’s disgusting comments in a column about Meghan Markle, season three’s release date has been announced as May 3.
However, it is not all good news, as Clarkson will face some formidable problems, including crops failing due to the extreme heat, inflation driving up supply costs, and ambitions for his favourite restaurant crushed.
As if that wasn’t enough, Clarkson’s farm shop is also about to close.
This comes after the 63-year-old denied rumours that he was preparing to expand his beloved farm, following a series of disagreements with the local council over different planning licences.
Clarkson is now forced to find urgent methods to make ends meet, with the new season seeing him devising a scheme to profit from hundreds of acres of unfarmed land – dense woods and hedgerows that make up half of Diddly Squat.
This sparks a flurry of Clarkson-created plans involving anything from goats and pigs to mushrooms, nettles, and deer.
In first-look photos Cooper, 26, smiles next to Clarkson, who holds a little, beautiful piglet.
Another shot shows the couple standing next to Clarkson’s partner Lisa Hogan and Diddly Squat Farm team members Gerald Cooper and ‘Cheerful’ Charlie Ireland, huddled around a table with vegetables on it.
A ‘new arrival’, along with returning characters, will join Clarkson, Cooper, and Hogan on the farm to help Clarkson bring his farm to completion, according to the teaser.
Clarkson previously stated that he almost sold Diddly Squat last year, after launching the farm in 2020.
He explained: ‘My first year of farming I made a profit of £114. That will look like a dream result when I get the figures for this year.’
In his column for The Times, he explained that he spent £40,000 on seeds, fertiliser, and sprays – that bill nearly tripled because of 2023’s weather.
Furthermore, Clarkson stated that a local slaughterhouse has closed, requiring three hours to transport pigs there and back to the farm.
Speaking about attempting to raise profits, he said: ‘I tried farming conventionally, it didn’t work. I’ve tried diversifying and that hasn’t really worked either.’
‘I’ve tried with sheep and pigs and cows and that has been a bit of a disaster as well. So I arrived at a crossroads and was not sure which way to turn.’
Clarkson claimed he was ready to give up until he learned that all of the fertiliser he needed for the following nine months had already been acquired.
He said that ‘the agricultural circle has began all over again,’ and that having the decision made for him allowed him to stand back from a ‘heartbreaking’ decision.
Clarkson’s Farm season three launches on Prime Video on May 3.
