Jane McDonald has disclosed where she stands in her love life after the loss of her lover Eddie Rothe.
Following a lung cancer diagnosis, the 60-year-old singer’s fiancé died in April 2021.
Denise Welch, the host of Loose Women on Tuesday, asked Jane if she had tried internet dating.
After denying it with a shake of the head and a laugh, she replied: ‘No I was very blessed to have a great relationship, and I feel as though my life doesn’t need a man to complete it.
‘I’m not saying I’m never going to date again, that would be lovely, but I don’t feel like I need someone in my life to make it complete.’
Co-host Brenda Edwards asked the star if she missed having someone to come to which Jane simply quipped ‘no.’
She said: ‘I’m lucky I share a house with my mates, and not with my wind on a night. I can’t be bothered to hold it in anymore.’
Jane met Rothe, the drummer for The Searchers, at a Wakefield club in 1980 and the two began on a young romance when she was only 17, but they split after a few months.
The pair didn’t see each other again until 2008, when they swiftly revived their romance, with Rothe proposing the following year.
Jane revealed her relationship with Eddie in Good To Know magazine in November 2019.
‘He is very funny and he makes me laugh every day,’ she told the publication.
‘He also brings me a cup of tea every morning, no matter what.
Jane’s engagement to Eddie was recounted in her 2019 memoirs Riding The Waves: My Story.
‘Suddenly, Ed cleared his throat and put his hand in his pocket,’ she wrote. ‘”Jane, you are definitely the one for me, and I should have done this 26 years ago,” he said. “Will you marry me?”
‘I was so overwhelmed that I started crying. Then Ed started crying!
‘People around us were mortified – thinking we’d split up.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
