Fans of Doom Patrol have been informed that the last episodes of the previous season would be released at some time.
The superhero series based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name premiered in 2019 and follows the members of the titular team, who all gain their talents via tragic circumstances and are typically reviled by society.
Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Joivan Wade, Matthew Zuk, Matt Bomer, Riley Shanahan, and Timothy Dalton feature in the film.
Before the show’s cancellation, the first six episodes of season four began airing late last year.
Six months later, the remaining six episodes have yet to appear, causing many fans to assume that they were cancelled outright.
However, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has recently stated that this is not the case and has attempted to allay their fears.
‘I can’t imagine a world where completed episodes are not going to be released,’ he posted on the recently launched social media site Threads.
He later followed-up with another comment: ‘As I surmised, no, Doom Patrol episodes are absolutely NOT being shelved, even though the premiere date for the next shows hasn’t yet been announced to the public.’
His remarks come after Jovian, who portrays Cyborg, suggested that the second half of the final season will provide fans with a satisfying conclusion to the series.
‘I would like to say it’s a great finish,’ he told CBR in an interview.
‘It’s satisfactory for the fans, which I felt was most important.
‘It upsets me when shows don’t get the opportunity to close the chapter, to allow the fans to feel whole and healed and like they’ve actually been a part of something that they come full circle with.’
He added that there would be ‘something everyone is going to love’ and the rest of the season was some of the teams ‘best work’.
Doom Patrol is streaming on Prime Video.
