Dylan Page, a TikTok star, has accused ITV News of’spinning the tale’ during his interview.
The social media celebrity, widely known for chronicling alarming news and current events, stated that the broadcaster approached him and that the staff commended his online work.
He did, however, express surprise when he discovered the edited interview was ‘different’ from his first talk.
In his latest TikTok, Dylan said: ‘As soon as we open the first sentence is just straight bullets.
‘They say teenagers get their news from TikTok more than anywhere else, and yet Dylan Page is a one man band reporting to the masses from his flat in Devon.’
Dylan joked that he lived in a “very nice” three-bedroom house and begged the channel not to treat viewers as “stupid.”
He noted that the channel missed everyone between the ages of 25 and 54, referring to a graphic displayed in the programme emphasising the percentages of individuals who acquire their news via social media.
‘Despite them cutting and not showing my answer to misinformation on social media, they play this man’s answer which is just overwhelmingly negative.
‘They then talk about TikTok’s connection with China and then frame it like they’re getting this news from the app itself.
‘Framing it like that just discredits all the amazing creators we have on there including professionals like doctors, dentists, lawyers, journalists and let’s not forget ITV themselves.’
Dylan’s followers weighed in on the situation, with one person writing: ‘This is why we don’t watch news on TV.’
While another joked: ‘They really thought they did something.’
