The Masked Singer UK fans believe the ITV show has been transported to the year 3000, with many assuming Charlie Simpson from Busted is behind Rhino.
The popular show, hosted by Joel Dommett, returned with a bang last week, with former professional footballer Chris Kamara departing after being revealed as Ghost.
Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino, and Rubbish hit the stage this week, hoping to keep judges Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, and Davina McCall guessing their identities.
Rhino, dressed in a red cowboy attire, blasted out Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars after Jacket Potato performed Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vega and Fawn performed Beauty And The Beast.
The judges were taken aback as Rhino delivered a ‘heart-wrenchingly magnificent’ rendition of the song, which Jonathan described as better than the original – before correctly identifying it as British artist James Blunt.
Davina guessed comedian and social commentator Russell Brand, while the Hot Right Now singer guessed former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff and Mo guessed TV personality Rylan Clark.
However, fans on Twitter speculated it could be Charlie, 37, owing to some rather telling clues that could refer to his former band, Busted.
Among them was that the clues piece was shot outside a sheriff’s building, with many references to crime, with viewers inferred could be a nod towards ‘Busted.’
Another eagle-eyed fan wrote: ‘Rhino is Charlie Simpson from Busted – the population of the town was 158697 – which is a mixed up version of his D.O.B – 7/6/1985! #MaskedSingerUk.’
A Twitter user agreed, saying, ‘Rhino is Charlie Simpson!’ I knew I’d heard his voice someplace! Three down arrows, three Busted members, a police car – busted! And his voice is incredible! #MaskedSinger #MaskedSingerUK.’
The audience chose Rhino to stay another week, but the second star to go was Lulu, who was revealed to be Piece of Cake.
The Scottish vocalist had previously been identified as Kylie Minogue, DJ Annie Macmanus, and Icelandic singer Bjork by the judges.
She began singing her 1964 song Shout after being unmasked, which had been one of the major hints.
She said: ‘I’m slightly in shock. I’m in and now I’m off. It’s adorable, I love watching the show, my grandchildren love the show, they love it – I love it and that’s why I’m here.’
Her exit came after the judge chose to save Rubbish and Jacket Potato, who were in the bottom three with Piece Of Cake.
The Masked Singer UK continues on Saturday on 9pm on ITV.
