Richard is opening a classic car restoration workshop and is letting the cameras capture every moment for a new TV programme.
Making the announcement on Instagram, the Grand Tour star confessed he was ‘taking a risk’ by embarking on the new business venture.
Richard appeared in the announcement video stood next to a swanky silver car inside a garage, suggesting that work is already underway.
After decades of critiquing how other people build their cars, it’s time for the TV star to experience just how much work goes into doing it full time.
In the video, Richard said: ‘Hello, I’ve taken the plunge, I’m taking a risk, I’m putting my money where my mouth is. I’m setting up a classic car restoration workshop for real, and Discovery Plus are gonna be following my attempts to do so.
‘It’ll be landing later this year so keep an eye out for my new workshop show on Discovery Plus.’

A very, very excited comment from the Discovery Plus Instagram said they were ‘looking forward’ to seeing how he gets on.
The show, seemingly called Richard Hammond’s Workshop judging by the hashtags, comes in the wake of his Top Gear co-star’s latest effort for Amazon Prime, Clarkson’s Farm.
As the title suggests, it’s a warts-and-all look at TV host and his family’s efforts to keep their 1000-acre Diddly Squat farm running.

Jeremy recently confessed that working on the farm is the happiest he has been at work for a long time.
‘I was stuck on a 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds and it was heaven,’ he said at the launch event.
Speaking about his experiences since taking over the running of the farm in 2019, he added: ‘I woke up every morning at six o’clock and just thought, “I can’t wait to get back out there on my tractor and do a crop walk or spot all the little diseases that wheat has or barley has”.
‘It was just so different to what I normally do, and we were made key workers, which if I’d been driving round corners while shouting, which is what I have done for the last 30 years, I wouldn’t have been made a key worker, but I was because I was providing food.’
