More than 10 million people tuned into I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here last night to see Giovanna Fletcher crowned the first ever Queen of the Castle.
The series has been a successful one for ITV, after first smashing ratings with its highly anticipated return last month.
It’s now been revealed that an average audience of 9 million watched Friday’s final, with a peak of 10.7 million and a 45% share of TV viewers. The numbers mark an increase of 600k on last year’s series, ITV has confirmed.
Friday’s show saw author and podcaster Giovanna presented the crown live from Wales, with Jordan North and Vernon Kay coming second and third respectively.
More than 12 million votes were cast in the last day alone, and the author and podcaster was presented the ceremonial flower crown by Vernon – as Jacqueline Jossa was reportedly unable to isolate beforehand.
Speaking after winning the show, mum-of-three Giovanna said: ‘I can’t believe it, people have literally picked up their phone and voted. I can’t believe it. It’s been the most amazing experience.’
Husband Tom Fletcher was among those congratulating her, with the McFly musician writing: ‘YEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!! Thanks SO much for voting and supporting @MrsGiFletcher from the very beginning.
‘She’s always been our queen but now she has a crown to prove it! Now I just have to explain to the kids that this doesn’t mean we’re moving into the castle…’
The series has impressed since relocating from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle, with many fans saying they ‘preferred’ the new-look camp.
