I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s bosses are reportedly scrapping the annual emotional family reunion episode due to coronavirus fears.
Typically, after spending nearly three weeks in the jungle, the semi-finalists are surprised with their loved ones to give them the final push they need to make it to the end.
But the decision was made not to have loved ones waiting for them back in the luxury estate of Carden Park – where the eliminated contestants are unwinding, and now they won’t be brought in for the finale either.
With the show having to move to the UK amid the Covid pandemic, and tight social-distancing guidelines in place to keep the series on air, bosses have been forced to scrap it.
‘ITV were desperate to include the segment as it is always really sweet and heart-warming,’ a source told The Sun.
‘This year they’ve realised with Covid rules and restrictions, it’s just too much of a logistical headache, so have had to knock it on the head.’
The reunion episode has always been an emotional one for viewers – with the celebs breaking down in tears as they reunite with their nearest and dearest.
In the past, the families have popped up in the middle of the camp, or the remaining campmates have been sent off on missions only to find their spouses or parents waiting for them.
Thankfully the six remaining celebs don’t have much longer to go before the end of the series – with the finale taking place this Sunday.
Giovanna Fletcher is now the only remaining girl, with Vernon Kay, Jordan North, AJ Pritchard, Shane Richie and Sir Mo Farah keeping her company.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
