On I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Shane Richie and AJ Pritchard have sometimes been caught not seeing eye-to-eye on certain things.
Now both in the top six, the pair have clashed on things including the washing up, with AJ unhappy at Shane not making an effort, and leaving him to do it.
As a result, Shane was seen throwing the pots on the floor when it was AJ’s turn to do them, causing some epic side-eye from AJ, who was clearly livid even though he kept quiet.
AJ’s brother Curtis has even hit out at ‘lazy’ Shane for causing havoc for his brother.
But according to psychotherapist Noel McDermott, it’s actually not that deep – and rather than it being an issue of fighting for dominance, or a personality clash, it’s actually rather sweet.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said: ‘Seeing it as a personality clash between Shane and AJ though seems incorrect,’ he concluded.
‘Shane seems to have taken on the mantle of “father figure” in the camp and leadership roles are necessary in this type of group functioning to make the group safer.’
‘The risk always in reality shows such as I’m A Celebrity is retreat into what is known, as basic assumption functioning where cohesion in the group breaks down, and processes such as fight and flight, coupling, splitting etc. emerge,’ he explained.
‘These are group processes and bigger than the personalities involved. Some decompensation in personality functioning is to be expected because there is a lot of tension, especially as we enter the final straight.’
Shane and AJ have actually proven to be quite the team when they are joining forces, having previously taken on a trial that involved their heads being locked in cages, and filled with bugs to win meals for camps.
Earning 11 out of 12 possible stars, the duo talked each other through the grim task, even when they were surrounded with literal rats.
Now, they have just three days to go before the finale, can they manage to stick it through to the end together?
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs tonight at 9pm on ITV.
