Rita Ora spilled the beans over her latest ‘dream’ role in the upcoming Beauty and The Beast prequel series.
The Your Song singer, 31, is set to share the screen with Josh Gad (Frozen) and Luke Evans in the Disney Plus special, as the pair reprise their respective roles of LeFou and Gaston from the live-action movie.
According to the show’s logline, Rita will be playing ‘a fugitive with surprising abilities who carries with her a secret that could potentially affect an entire kingdom’.
The series, which follows the 2017 Emma Watson reboot, doesn’t have a title just yet, but The Masked Singer judge was still hyped nonetheless.
The star uploaded a picture of herself smiling from ear to ear in front of a TV displaying the Disney logo.
She wrote: ‘I can’t keep the secret any longer! I’m beyond excited to be be joining the cast of the Beauty and the Beast prequel series! As a child, I remember watching Beauty and the Beast with my family over and over and immediately falling in love with the music and characters.
‘Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined joining this fairytale world.
‘To everyone that helped make this happen, I am forever grateful. Thank you to Disney+, my CAA squad – Dan, Joella, and Tracy – Shari, and my management family. Lately I just feel like all my dreams are coming true! Life is feeling like a Disney movie!’
While fans recognise Rita as the hitmaker behind tunes such as R.I.P. and Body On Me, the musician is no stranger to the screen, big and small.
Her previous acting credits include playing herself on episodes of Empire and 90210, and her notable role as Christian Grey’s sister Mia in the Fifty Shades franchise.
The 1991 musical revolves around clever and sparky Belle, who is kept prisoner by a hideous beast when she rescues her father from his clutches.
Little does she know that her captor is in fact a man who has been cursed by an Enchantress, and the only way for him to break the curse is to find true love.
Production for the series will begin in spring this year, with Tony award-nominated director Liesl Tommy directing the first episode.
