Following Ulrika Jonsson’s scathing remark, another TV personality has spoken in on Holly Willoughby’s departure from This Morning.
The long-serving host announced her departure from the daily show last week after 14 years.
Making a social media announcementHolly, 42, said it was a ‘tough farewell’ and thanked her ‘dedicated and supportive’ fans.
While her co-stars wished her success, Atomic Kitten singer Kerry, 43, was not surprised by her choice.
Kerry previously revealed that attending as a guest on the ITV programme left her feeling’suicidal,’ and she criticised the network for having a ‘toxic’ atmosphere.
She told OK magazine: ‘Holly Willoughby has stepped away from This Morning and I think it was the right time, I wasn’t surprised.
‘We were kind of all waiting for it, weren’t we? I give Holly her due and I think that everyone has to move on at some point, it’s nice to have shake-ups in TV too.’
This comes after former Gladiators presenter Ulrika, 56, commented on a Instagram post shared by The Archbishop of Banterbury showing a blonde Wilko worker walking around an empty shop with the caption: ‘Holly Willoughby walking round the This Morning studio.’
The account also wrote that it was ‘the end of an era’.
However, Ulrika commented in response: ‘Or the end of an error.’
Following Holly announcing her This Morning departure on Instagram, Kevin Lygo, managing director of media and entertainment at ITV, said in a statement: ‘We are sad that Holly is leaving This Morning, but respect her decision which we know will have been extremely difficult for her to make.
‘Holly is one of the best-loved, respected and most accomplished broadcasters in the UK.’
He continued: ‘She has been at the heart of This Morning for the past 14 years, and she is adored by our viewers.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
