A Good Morning Britain guest branded Piers Morgan a ‘pig’ on today’s programme as a debate on whether animal insults should be banned got heated.
Jennifer White from Peta joined the programme after it was revealed the animal rights group are against people using animal names in a derogatory way, such as using the word snake to describe a treacherous or deceitful person.
She pointed out that the dictionary describes the word pig as a dirty, gluttonous, or repulsive person, but the species does have impressive qualities.
‘Pigs are hyper-intelligent animals, so if I came on air and called Piers a pig he’d probably think that I was saying he was repulsive or disgusting when really these animals are so intelligent,’ Elizabeth said.
‘If we flipped it on its head and said that someone with a high IQ is as smart as a pig, that would completely change our perception of these animals.’
‘That’s actually really clever, Jennifer,’ Piers’ co-host Susanna Reid pointed out. ‘She’s getting away with calling you [Piers] a pig because it’s positive.’
Viewers were seriously impressed by Jennifer’s quick-witted swipe at Piers and rushed to Twitter to applaud her.
‘Jennifer from PETA sweetly calling #PiersMorgan a pig and getting away with it. NOW that’s the perfect start of the day!’ wrote one.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘Jennifer White was brilliant on @GMB it’s almost impossible for anyone to speak when @piersmorgan gets on a roll, he doesn’t seem to listen.
‘She was so articulate and I agree with everything she was trying to say. Esp about trying to get across how wonderful pigs are.’
Hats off to Jennifer.
