Courteney Cox definitely suffers for her craft, and has now shown the rank reality of putting an actual turkey on her head to recreate Monica’s iconic Friends scene.
The actress gave Friends fans a huge throwback this Thanksgiving by recreating one of the sitcom’s iconic holiday episodes – shoving her head into the orifice of an actual full-size turkey and dancing for the cameras.
While many thought she had somehow used a fake, a new behind-the-scenes clip showed that it was actually completely legit – and Courteney had wrapped her head in cellophane before pulling the bird over her face.
Pulling apart the turkey legs, Courtney recruited the help of her assistants to get the turkey on her, covering her mouth with a flap of loose skin to appear like she was completely submerged.
She titled the clip ‘not suitable for vegans’ before screening the vid on Instagram.
‘This really hurts,’ Courteney declared. ‘This is so disgusting.’
You’re telling us, Court! But we admire the efforts.
Side note: Be safe, kids. and don’t cover your face in cellophane. Even if it is to stick your head in a turkey.
In the 1998 Friends episode, The One With All The Thanksgivings, Courteney’s character Monica Geller put a turkey on her head in an attempt to make boyfriend Chandler Bing (played by Matthew Perry) laugh.
Adding sunglasses and a Fez to the Thanksgiving meal, she arrived at his door and started shimmying, causing him to say that he loved her for the first time.
It still remains one of the weirdest, sweetest moments on telly ever – especially as Joey (Matt Le Blanc) soon arrived home and was completely petrified by what he saw.
Iconic.
