Frankie Boyle’s New World Order is no longer in effect.
The controversial Scottish comedian, 50, aired six episodes on BBC Two.
However, the polarising star has announced that it would not return for a seventh season.
‘Ah well, there’s to be no more New World Order on the BBC,’ he shared.
Frankie continued on Twitter: ‘Not surprising in the current climate, I suppose.
‘Just very grateful to have had six series of working with the funniest people in the business.’
The BBC also confirmed the cancellation.
‘We would like to thank Frankie Boyle and all those involved for six great series of New World Order, and we look forward to seeing what he does next on the BBC,’ they said.
Fans of Frankie’s have expressed their disappointment over the cancellation, with one calling it “depressing.”
One person tweeted: ‘It will be missed. The end monologues were outstanding and the reactions they provoked from the other comics were an added joy.’
‘What a shame! This was by far the funniest topical comedy show out there. I have re-watched these so many times’, another added, saying it’s a ‘loss’ for the channel.
‘Well this sucks. Will miss this awesome show’, a Twitter user penned, while many are hopeful the show might be picked up elsewhere.
The topical show premiered in 2017, with the final episode being a special on December 27.
Since then, there have been yearly specials that examine the year’s news.
Regular guests have included Sara Pascoe, Katherine Ryan, Mona Chalabi, Miles Jupp, Sophie Duker, and Kirsty Pritchard-McLea across its six seasons, catapulting numerous up-and-coming comics to popularity.
Other actors who have appeared in the film include Richard Osman, Rosie Jones, and Romesh Ranganathan.
Frankie was nominated for a Bafta in 2020 for best entertainment performance for presenting the series.
New World Order, created and produced by Frankie, isn’t the only BBC satirical show to be cancelled in recent years.
Mock The Week was cancelled last year, and The Mash Report was cancelled in 2020.
Late-Night Mash, Dave’s resurrection of the genre, was also cancelled last month.
