*Warning, spoilers for The Apprentice ahead!*
The Apprentice’s Nick Showering has addressed theories that he was a secret journalist or comedian planted on the BBC One show.
The 31-year-old finance manager from London became Lord Alan Sugar’s next casualty of the boardroom and was fired in scenes that aired on Thursday night.
He kissed goodbye to the idea of becoming the mogul’s next business partner after failing to impress during a racing-themed corporate away day task at Silverstone.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk following his brutal firing, Nick insisted that was actually a genuine candidate. Yep, really.
‘Unfortunately, the rumours aren’t true,’ he said. ‘I don’t know whether it’s a diss or a compliment, but I’m going with a compliment.
‘No, Lord Sugar doesn’t have a third aide that he planted in the house. I am a candidate, I can confirm. I don’t really know where it’s come from, to be honest.’
Nick has been the unsung hero of this year’s Apprentice, unintentionally keeping viewers entertained with his ideas and actions.
While he would never describe himself as a funny person, he does believe he is fun to be around, and we can absolutely see why.
‘In the application process, I said I’m not that funny, but I’m quite fun,’ he shared. ‘I would describe myself as fun to be around if you’re out and about, I can always have a laugh with people.’
Nick, let’s hang out!
Next week, the remaining candidates are tasked with selling goods to the nation via a leading TV shopping channel in a one-hour prime-time slot. Key skills they must demonstrate include selecting the best products to sell and being personable and knowledgeable on-air.
But, who will be in Lord Sugar’s firing line? Only time will tell…
The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One.
