UberEats has received criticism for its Super Bowl promo, which includes a reunion between Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.Titled ‘Don’t Forget Uber Eats’, the one-minute clip focuses on ‘remembering’ the food delivery service, even if you’re forgetting ‘something else’.
At one point, showbiz royalty Posh and Becks ‘forget’ Victoria’s Spice Girls roots, with David questioning: ‘Remember when you used to be a Pepper Lady?’
‘Wasn’t it the Cinnamon Sisters?’ Victoria quips back.
Meanwhile, Rachel Green actress Jen remembers her lunch delivery, but completely forgets her Friends co-star, avoiding a hug with: ‘Have we met?’
But it’s not the A-list cast people have a problem with.
While other recordings show rapper Jelly Roll inquiring whether someone ‘doodled’ on his face (forgetting his tattoos) and one employee forgetting to wear trousers, another shows someone eating peanut butter.
Holding up the jar with a spoonful, they ask: ‘There’s peanuts in peanut butter?’
‘Oh, it’s the primary ingredient,’ they add.
The man’s face is completely swelled, and his eyelids are almost closed, implying that he ‘forgot’ about his allergy.
In tiny font, as the clip plays, text appears on the ad reading: ‘Please please please do not forget there are peanuts in peanut butter.’
And the moment has sparked fury, with X user @ArlandJD writing: ‘Disgusting, tone-deaf, and completely unnecessary use of an allergic reaction in an ad.
‘I have been ruthlessly bullied throughout my life by this stereotypical depiction of anaphylaxis.
‘Perpetuating this offensive joke is unacceptable, @UberEats. Classless.’

Not to mention the actual danger it puts people with food allergies in, by trivialising the condition and treating it as a joke

Please edit out the peanut allergy joke in your Super Bowl commercial. Peanut allergies need to be taken seriously. This commercial is making it worse, and it is dangerous to make a joke out of a life threatening allergy. @AUVIQ @BrittanyLynne @PatrickMahomes

Anaphylaxis, according to the NHS, is a potentially fatal allergic response that occurs swiftly. It requires prompt hospital treatment and can cause serious symptoms such as throat enlargement, dizziness, trouble breathing, and difficulty swallowing.
@NoNutTraveler also wrote on X: ‘Your throat closes, sensing you are dying during #anaphylaxis NOT funny My son once pleaded w/ me to remove the arms strangling him during a #peanutallergy reaction @UberEats – if U “forget” you have a #foodallergy can literally DIE- NO JOKE #SuperBowl.’
@SS19934 added: ‘I am totally disgusted by this! Removing the Uber Eats app from my phone. As a mom of a Peanut/Tree Nut Allergy daughter I can’t even understand what kind of humor is this! Does Uber Eats staff or the Advt agency staff have no idea about the constant stress under which we live!’
Following the reaction, Uber said that it will change the commercial before it airs during the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The Food Allergy Research and Education nonprofit shared a statement criticizing the ad earlier this week, and later confirmed that Uber ‘have made a change to the ad that will air to the Super Bowl’s wide audience, they are editing out the reference to the peanut allergy’.
