The Vivienne of Dancing On Ice has admitted that the gruelling preparation for the ITV competition has put her in the ‘greatest shape of my life.’
The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner, 30, is among the celebrities going to the ice to compete for the title of juggernaut series champion, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
The Great British Sewing Bee participant is competing against Ekin-Su Cülcülolu and Joey Essex, with the goal of impressing judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse.
The Vivienne came on Lorraine on Friday, where she spoke with the Scottish TV host about her training regimen ahead of her debut appearance on the show this weekend.
‘It’s gotten me in the best shape of my life, honestly,’ she said. ‘I lost over two stone.’
‘But I put a bit on after Christmas,’ The Vivienne added laughing, with Lorraine adding that ‘everybody does’ indulge during the festive period.
Lorraine then asked: ‘What about injuries because everyone always asks that?’
‘I’m quite lucky,’ The Vivienne began. ‘Because when I’m skating in drag, underneath all this is three inches of foam on each side of my hips. It gives me the illusion of Jessica Rabbit.
‘So I fall and I bounce straight back and I’ve got a crash helmet on,’ the reality TV star added, gesturing to their wig.
‘I’m all sorted; I bet all the other celebs are jealous.’
In a social media post, Vivienne revealed her participation in Dancing On Ice 2023, calling it a “dream come true.”
She added: ‘I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be competing in Dancing on Ice in 2023!
‘This is honestly a dream come true and I can’t wait to start training on the ice.
‘To be the first drag artist to take part in one of the big UK reality competition shows is truly an honour.
‘I think it’s a big step forward for queer representation on TV.’
After appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race for the first time, The Vivienne went on to compete in the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and she has her own BBC Three television series, The Vivienne Takes on Hollywood, in which she produced her own music video.
The Liverpool-born Vivienne has also appeared on a Christmas episode of The Great British Sewing Bee.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
