Joey Essex and Vanessa Bauer’s romance looks to have thawed, as they have allegedly called it quits.
Following months of conjecture when they were put together on the latest series of the ITV skating competition, the Dancing On Ice partners revealed their relationship only one day ago.
When asked about their relationship, Vanessa, 26, claimed she was’very pleased’ with the former Towie star, 32.
‘Me and Joey, we’re doing extremely well – we’re doing pretty well right now,’ added the figure skater.
When questioned if they are in a love relationship, the celebrity told The Sun, ‘I’m extremely happy.’
Vanessa also addressed rumours of a breakup after she went on vacation without Joey, stating she simply wanted time to herself after the concert.
‘Dancing on Ice is so intense and I feel everybody needs downtime after the show,’ she said. ‘I needed time out after the show and I feel after six seasons of doing it, I feel like Thailand is my happy place. There is a lot more bikini pictures to come.’
She also praised Joey, hailing him a ‘very serious guy behind closed doors’ who ‘works so hard’, adding that they ‘won anyway’, despite coming runners-up to Nile Wilson and Olivia Smart.
Unfortunately, a source now claims that reality star Joey prefers to focus on his business rather than be tied down by a relationship.
‘Joey absolutely loved his time performing with Vanessa on Dancing On Ice – he will treasure those memories forever,’ the insider began.
‘But for now, he’s focussing on work opportunities and beginning a new chapter in Dubai,’ they added, as the I’m A Celebrity campmate is reportedly eyeing up a move overseas to start a new life.
‘He’s definitely single and while Vanessa means a lot to him because of the experience they shared on the show, they’re just friends now.’
The source concluded by saying that ‘Joey has a busy life and career’ and his house move is a ‘massive change for him’, so he wants that to be his ‘main priority’.
Joey and Vanessa had unmistakable connection on Dancing On Ice, which presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby teased them about.
With their romantic dances and sweet pecks on the cheek, viewers at home were equally eager to see them get together.
The stars made it all the way to the final before finishing second, with gymnast Nile and professional partner Olivia lifting the prize.
Meanwhile, The Vivienne – real name James Lee Williams – and partner Colin Grafton finished third, almost missing out on the opportunity to skate Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s legendary Olympic Bolero.
