Jayne Torvill, a judge on Dancing On Ice, stated that she damaged her arm while ice skating and would need surgery.
Jayne was spotted with her arm in a gorgeous sequined sling that matched her green attire as props week on the ITV ice skating competition began.
When host Phillip Schofield questioned about the injuries, the 65-year-old reassured viewers that she was ‘fine’ – but there was no fast cure, and an operation was necessary.
‘Talking of things going wrong on the ice, I’ve ruptured my bicep tendon so I’m going to need surgery,’ she explained.
‘But I’m fine and will be back on the ice soon,’ the ex-Olympian added.
No information was provided as to when or how Jayne sustained her injury, although she and fellow judge and professional partner Christopher Dean are seen on the ice each week, delivering advice to the show’s hopefuls.
Phillip and Holly Willoughby, the show’s hosts, greeted this week’s celebrity participants and their spouses to the rink while standing on gigantic prop boxes.
For tonight’s programme, each pair has been assigned a prop to integrate into their act, including a trolley, feather boa, and double bed.
Mollie Gallagher earned the best score of the season so far with pro partner Sylvain Longchambon in the evening’s opening performance.
The Coronation Street actress, dressed as an air hostess, produced an eye-catching performance utilising an airport trolley as a prop and received 33 out of 40 points.
Carley Stenson then received a good 34.5 for her and Mark Hanretty’s skate with a feather boa.
That came after a difficult week for the couple, with Mark off sick until Friday.
Following up on their leader board-topping skate last week, the Vivienne and Colin Grafton performed another spectacular routine paying homage to ‘another sort of drag,’ with the racing flag prop assisting them to 35.5 points.
This week’s Dancing On Ice has the last six couples competing for a spot in next week’s semi-final.
Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1.
