Dancing on Ice contestant Graham Bell will not be taking part in the first show of the series after his dance partner Yebin Mok had a ‘freak accident’.
During rehearsals, Yebin was ‘stabbed’ with her skate’s blade and the wound was so bad it ‘showed her tendons’.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield revealed the news on Wednesday’s This Morning – admitting they had seen a photo from the accident although they were unable to share it.
‘This week Olympic skier Graham Bell and his partner Yebin had a freak accident which resulted in her having a laceration in her keg,’ Holly explained.
‘We had a Zoom meeting with the team yesterday and they showed us a picture which we cannot show you on TV,’ Phillip weighed in.
‘Holly couldn’t even look at it. It was a very nasty stab wound from an ice blade. You could see the tendons actually.
‘It’s a dangerous show, she’s going to be out for quite a few weeks actually.’
The pair also sent their love to the pro skater, saying they’re excited to see him back in action but also that he shouldn’t rush his recovery.
Rufus Hound and his partner Robin Johnstone are instead stepping up to perform this week.
It comes after Rebekah Vardy’s pro partner Andy Bunchanan landed in hospital after a training accident.
Explaining the accident, Rebekah said: ‘We were practicing a trick and we changed it slightly from something that we would normally do – and we did it on a daily basis and everything would go right and nothing would go wrong.
‘On this occasion, it went very wrong and the back of my heel and my blade sliced his face open.’
‘He was fine. All he was concerned about was making sure that he could skate the next day, where I was not interested in that in the slightest, I just wanted to make sure that he was OK,’ she assured.
‘It was quite scary. But it brings back the realisation that what we’re doing is really bloody dangerous, but he’s fine. It’s a bit dramatic but he’s OK.’
Dancing on Ice returns on Sunday on ITV.
