Comic Relief has returned! It will be on our televisions on Friday, March 17, 2023, with plenty of mayhem and touching moments intended at generating donations to combat child poverty.
Highlights of the three-hour fundraiser, which will be broadcast live from Media City in Salford at 7pm, include a parody of The Traitors starring Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, and Mary Berry, as well as Kylie Minogue in a special edition of Ghosts.
There’s also a Love Island spoof. And, for the first time in its 65-year history, Blue Peter gets a crimson makeover. In addition, Blackadder returns 20 years after his last appearance.
This year’s Red Nose has been particularly created by Sir Jony Ive, the former Apple genius who gave us the iPhone, iPod, and iMac. It folds flat for easy transport and unfolds into a lovely honeycomb globe.
According to Comic Relief, the flat shape makes it easier to package and mail, and it may include practically entirely recyclable, plant-based components.
So, where can you acquire one of the new Red Noses, and what other fantastic merchandise is available?
Here’s what you should know.
Where can you buy a red nose for Comic Relief 2023?
This year, Comic Relief has partnered with Amazon.
To order a red nose, you can buy one direct from the Comic Relief shop, or via Amazon’s special Comic Relief page.
You can also buy in person at Amazon Fresh stores.
Schools can find out about ordering large quantities here.
But that’s not the only nose off offer.
There’s a glorious ‘nose that grows’ which is 100% compostable and you can plant when you’ve finished with it, when it will bloom into wild flowers. It’s sold out online but you might be able to get one from Homebase.
What other Comic Relief merch can I buy?
Mr Men and Little Miss characters made an appearance on T-shirts and sweatshirts for Red Nose Day.
There are many different colours and characters to pick from for both adults and children, and while some are sold out online, you may also check TK Maxx shops.
There’s also a T-shirt designed by Gok Wan – some sizes are available online, and like all the T-shirts, at least £5 of the £12.99 price goes to Comic Relief.
Schools can also order Red Nose Day stickers.
And the TK Maxx comic relief site has lots of other options, including Mr Men and Little Miss water bottles and aprons.
Last year’s event raised an astonishing £42,790,147, and despite the current cost of living issue, organisers are hope that those who can donate would do so in order to help eradicate poverty in children and young people.
