Jesy Nelson did not appear to consider what her appearance on The Great British Bake Off may entail when she received her most recent manicure.
This became evident when the 31-year-old Little Mix singer attempted to put some pie crust into a tray, but failed because to her formidable claws.
Prue Leith made good on her promise, saying, “I’ll do it for you,” when Jesy appeared unable to handle the savoury goodies on her own.
Tonight’s installment of The Great Celebrity Baking Off: Stand Up To Cancer featured the singer with David Schwimmer from Friends and comedians Rose Matafeo and Tom Davis.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing, and let’s be honest: Jesy’s nails weren’t even her biggest challenge as she attempted three baking projects and deemed them all “failures.”
Viewers of the programme turned to Twitter with specific worries, as several criticised Jesy’s long nails as the most ridiculous Bake Off preparation yet.
Some were concerned about the cleanliness of such long nails, and a couple even urged Jesy to wear her long hair up while she cooked (or bads).
One person said: ‘#GBBO get celebrities with long hair to tie it back!!! Jesy constantly flicking hers (along with her nails) are ridiculous.’
Another wrote: ‘Nails that render you completely useless. That’s a great idea! #GBBO.’
‘Did nobody advise Jesy Nelson in advance of appearing on Bake Off about what she’d actually be doing on the programme? The state of those talons!!’ a third quipped.
‘#GBBO Jesy…nails and hair…both making me heave…’ another fan wrote, while one pointed out her nails were a big no-no, as they said: ‘Jessie needs to take them nails off cos your not allowed them on in a cooking industry’. [sic]
Even the official GBBO Twitter account made fun of Jesy’s nails, writing, “Our thoughts are with Jesy Nelson’s manicurist during this difficult moment.”
Jesy quipped at the beginning of the show, “This is the first thing I’ve ever cooked.”
Friends actor David (spoiler warning) was eliminated as the star baker, but Jesy wasn’t shocked she didn’t win since she stated, “I definitely don’t have the baking bug, but maybe a packet mix.”
