Britain’s Got Talent reportedly descended into mayhem after Simon Cowell pretended to be “gravely hurt” due to a crossbow hoax.
The yearly competition series featuring judges Simon, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and the replacement for David Walliams, Bruno Tonioli.
Shooting is already underway for the competition series, which will debut later this year; however, a recent stunt did not sit well with the live crowd.
The former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 67, was reportedly given a crossbow to shoot at the music mogul, 63, at the Manchester auditions, but was caught aback when Simon appeared to be taken down and injured by the arrow.
According to accounts, Simon reportedly pretended to be dead as the medical staff assisted him in front of a live audience, leaving Bruno absolutely surprised.
Laura Sugden, a real victim of a crossbow attack, criticised the prank and deemed it “absolutely disgraceful.”
‘I can’t believe it’s even allowed on the show. It’s not regulated, but it’s a lethal weapon,’ she told The Sun.
‘I’ve been in a situation where I’ve lost somebody. For Britain’s Got Talent to showcase that as a prank I just find really disrespectful.’
A BGT reportedly defended the stunt adding: ‘This is a light-hearted skit in the show between the judges – and not meant to cause any offence at all.’
The April premiere is scheduled for the forthcoming season of Britain’s Got Talent, which just added former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno.
David departed the talent show after 10 years, when it was uncovered he made ‘disrespectful statements’ about participants during breaks in filming. Bruno’s accession occurred after he stepped in to replace David.
Nonetheless, Amanda has already disclosed that Bruno has “broken every rule” in his first few weeks on the job.
‘So much so that Simon will probably have to throw out any rulebook this year,’ she told The Sun.
Britain’s Got Talent returns later this year.
