The semi-finals of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent have begun, further reducing the quest for the best talent.
Eight artists took the stage last night (May 29) in the hopes of impressing the judging panel, but more crucially, the viewers at home, since only their votes can send them forward.
Two acts won, giving fans their first finalists for the 2023 programme and the first acts in the running for the £250,000 main prize and a berth at the Royal Variety Performance.
The programme this year had it everything, from mind-blowing dance troupes to spellbinding singers and comedians, and even some hazardous acts that had the judges watching through their fingers.
But who will emerge victorious? Here are the finalists for Britain’s Got Talent 2023.
Who are Britain’s Got Talent 2023 finalists?
Musa Motha
Musa Motha, a dancer, left the judges in tears yet again during the first semi-finals, as her outstanding performance earned her a spot in the final.
Musa, a 10-year-old amputee who lost their leg, won the show’s first shared golden buzzer when all four judges couldn’t help but send him directly to the semi-finals.
And, once again, the South African native dazzled, prompting Alesha Dixon to call him “the one to beat” and earning a special shoutout from Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo.
They won the public vote and advanced directly to the semi-finals.
On the news they would be competing during the BGT final, he said: ‘I feel excited and blessed and I thank everyone for the support.’
Amy Lou
Amy Lou, a new mother, was the show’s second finalist for 2023 after making it through the first semi-final episode.
Amy and fellow vocalist Abi Carter-Simpson made the top three, along with Musa Motha, who received the most votes from the public.
The judges then had to select who would take the second spot, with Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden going with Amy Lou and Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell going with Abi.
As a result, the hosts went back to the public vote, which voted Amy Lou through.
The vocalist from the Midlands stunned everyone with her dramatic first audition and gave birth just six weeks before the semi-finals.
The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals continue all this week on ITV1 and ITVX.
