Britain’s Got Talent 2021 is getting off to a shaky start with filming reportedly massively delayed due to the latest coronavirus restrictions.
The series was scheduled to begin filming again in January, complete with Simon Cowell, who missed the live shows this year after breaking his back in an e-bike accident.
However, with more of the country being put into tier four Covid regulations, it’s claimed the show has now been pushed back for two weeks.
A source told The Sun: ‘Covid’s causing havoc with BGT filming. The producers want to keep viewers entertained and put a smile on people’s faces but the safety of the cast, crew and contestants is the priority.’
It was added that despite the success of the virtual audience board from last series, with viewers tuning in via Zoom from home and being screened behind the judges, the production team are eager to return to a live show.
Britain’s Got Talent was split in two last year because of coronavirus, with filming for the auditions successfully completed before lockdown took effect.
The live shows, where Jon Courtenay was crowned the winner of the series, got pushed back until the Autumn, with Ashley Banjo filling in for Simon on the judges panel.
