Bridgerton has announced itself as one of the biggest Netflix shows of recent times since arriving over Christmas, but eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a few historical bloopers.
Viewers have pointed out inaccuracies on social media after seeing yellow lines on roads, featuring in the 19th century period drama 140 years before they were first introduced.
The show is set in 1813, and many scenes were shot around Bath’s Royal Crescent. However, yellow lines did not appear on roads in Britain until the 1960s.
Viewers on social media spotted the mistake, and suggested that they’d seen more historical gaffes throughout the show’s first season.
One fan wrote: ‘Two episodes into #Bridgerton and I’ve so far spotted a single yellow line and a telecoms manhole cover. I didn’t realise the 19th Century Brits were such pioneers.’
Another said: ‘Really enjoying Bridgerton, but with the technology available to filmmakers these days, a yellow line?’
The period drama, starring Rege-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, has become a blockbuster hit with more than 63 million people tuning in since it debuted at Christmas.
Fans finally got the news that had been hoping for when a second season was recently confirmed on the show’s social media accounts.
The announcement read: ‘Prepare for another social season. Bridgerton is returning for season two, only on Netflix.’
Showrunner Chris Van Dusen then told Today with Hoda and Jenna: ‘I am so thrilled to be announcing that Bridgerton will be back for a second season.
‘We are going to be starting filming later this Spring in London and we’re all so excited. I know the cast can’t wait to get back to it and neither can I.’
Teasing the plot, he added: ‘Season two we’re really going to be with the eldest Bridgerton brother, this season. Our Viscount Lord Anthony Bridgerton played by Jonathan Bailey. ‘We left him at the end of the first season in a bit of a crossroads so I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he fares on the marriage market.’
Bridgerton is available to watch on Netflix.
