India Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte Amarteifio felt uneasy after viewing her sex scenes with her mother.
The planned prequel series will concentrate on youthful Queen Charlotte’s ascent to popularity and power, as well as her romance with King George (Corey Mylchreest) from the enormously popular period drama.
In the six-part series, Golda Rosheuvel will repeat her role as the queen, while India will portray a younger version of the figure.
This season, like its predecessor, will have lots of personal scenes, but India has revealed that she chose to throw caution to the wind and watch some of the early episodes with her mother.
When she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, India suggested some of her family members to have some booze before watching the show.
When pressed further by the talk show presenter, she added that some of the scenes are “a little bit racy and not for the eyes.”
Jimmy asked India, 21, whether she had watched the play yet as her mother was in the crowd.
‘Yeah, we watched it together,’ India nervously said.
‘It was a … bonding experience no other,’ she added.
India asked her mother whether she agreed, to which Jimmy replied that he wanted to find out who was’more uncomfortable’ during the watching.
‘I think I knew what to expect because I had been reading some lines to her when she was auditioning, but no steamy lines, so I sort of knew what to expect,’ her mum explained.
‘I think it’s fabulous, so I sort of switched off the whole “this is my daughter doing steamy scenes”, but it is fabulous though.’
Although India did say it was ‘bizarre’, it was also ‘really nice to have people you love watch something you’ve done and be proud’.
‘I just felt like I needed to jump in the deep end and show her all the steamy scenes and get it out of the way and then we can get past it,’ she added.
India, on the other hand, stated that she had no intentions to do the same with other family members and would most certainly not be tuning in with her grandparents.
She did mention that she had pondered making a spreadsheet for her loved ones to indicate exactly where they “needed to stop and then continue.”
The teaser for the highly anticipated series, developed by Shonda Rhimes, was published last month and included shots from the extravagant royal wedding.
The Bridgerton-verse prologue ‘tells the narrative of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George spurred both a magnificent love story and a cultural upheaval, establishing the world of the Tonne inherited by the characters in Bridgerton,’ according to earlier teases.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on ABC in the United States.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premieres May 4 on Netflix.
