The BBC has confirmed that Beyond Paradise will return for a second season and a Christmas special.
The Death In Paradise spin-off premiered earlier this year, with Kris Marshall reprising his role as DI Humphrey Goodman as he tried to adjust to life on the Devonshire coast with his girlfriend Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).
Following the series one conclusion, which saw Humphrey and Martha reconciled after some difficulty in their relationship, the BBC has confirmed that the pair will return to screens for a second series as well as a seasonal special.
Humphrey began to acclimatise to life away from Saint Marie, the fictitious Caribbean island on which the original series is based, after moving to the not-so-sleepy town of Shipton Abbott, from where Martha comes, during the first season.
The couple had their fair share of ups and downs after failing to conceive despite both desiring children, which resulted in their engagement being called off momentarily.
In a stunning twist, the conclusion saw Humphrey and Martha reconnect on Saint Marie and celebrate their re-engagement with certain Death In Paradise characters.
Following the announcement, director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt said: ‘I’m beyond excited to return to Shipton Abbott for both a Christmas special and second series of Beyond Paradise.
‘The response from BBC viewers to series one has been a joy to see and, like its millions of fans, I’m intrigued to find out what new mysteries lie in store for Humphrey, Martha and the team.’
Executive producer Tim Key added: ‘We’ve been blown away by the audience response to the show and are so happy that people have taken it to their hearts.
‘We can’t wait to get our amazing cast back together to continue the story – and to be able to pay a visit to Shipton Abbott at Christmas is even better.’
Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Felicity Montagu as office support Margo Martins, and Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd are all confirmed for season two.
The Beyond Paradise Christmas special will show during the 2023 holiday season, with series two following the following year.
