The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot has officially launched and is available to watch as the classic sitcom gets a dark and gritty reimagining.
The story will be familiar to fans of the original Will Smith comedy as a street-smart Philadelphia teen gets into some trouble and gets sent to live with his rich relatives in Los Angeles.
Jabari Banks places Will in Bel-Air, while Adrian Holmes and Cassandra Freeman take on the roles of Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian alongside Olly Sholotan’s version of Carlton Banks.
Cousins Hilary and Ashley are back with Coco Jones and Akira Akbar joining the cast, and the series is a whole is a much more dramatic take on the original.
Smith – who serves as a producer in the remake – starred alongside James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, Joseph Marcell and Janet Hubert-Whitten/Daphne Maxwell Reid in the sitcom, which ran for six seasons from 1990 to 1996.
