BBC News was forced to issue an apology after Dominic Cummings swore during the Science and Technology Committee and Health and Social Care Committee today.
The corporation had been broadcasting the committee live when the former senior aide dropped an F-bomb as he shared his initial reaction to learning the country was ‘heading for disaster’ at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
As Mr Cummings gave evidence, he recalled telling Mark Sweeney, Director General, Cabinet Secretariat in the Cabinet Office: ‘I think we are absolutely f*cked.
‘I think this country is heading for disaster, I think we’re going to kill thousands of people, as soon as I’ve been told this I’ve come through to see you, it seems from the conversation you’re having that that’s correct.
‘And I said, “I think it’s right, I think it is a disaster, I’m going to speak to the Prime Minister about it tomorrow.’
A BBC journalist swiftly interrupted the broadcast to apologise for the expletive used by Mr Cummings.

‘I just want to apologise there if any of the language Dominic Cummings has used has offended you,’ they announced.
Mr Cummings did not hold back during today’s committee meeting and said Health Secretary Matt Hancock should have been fired over 10 or 15 things during the pandemic.
He also claimed Prime Minister Boris Johnson wanted to be infected with Covid-19 live on TV to ‘show it’s nothing to be scared of’ and accused him of having no serious plan to protect the most vulnerable.
Ahead of giving evidence, he set out his criticisms in a Twitter thread, calling the UK’s Covid plan ‘part disaster, part non-existent’ and that the border policy was a ‘joke’.
In a series of explosive tweets, he claimed herd immunity was No 10’s original response to the pandemic – a strategy that was only dropped in March last year after a warning it would lead to a ‘catastrophe’.
Ahead of his appearance, ITV’s Robert Peston reported that the former top aide was set to allege that the PM refused to order a second lockdown in September because he claimed Covid is ‘only’ killing 80-year-olds.
