After a very poisonous snake was seen near Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s flat, they were supposedly told to be on the watch for dangerous snakes.
The popular TV hosts are already in Australia, prepping for the next series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, despite a recent human security issue.
However, it’s not just the suspected celebrity candidates for the 2023 version that need be wary of the local fauna and creepy-crawlies, as notices were placed near Kingscliff beach in New South Wales after a ‘big brown snake’ was spotted in the vicinity.
It’s believed to have been an Eastern Brown Snake, which is the world’s second-most poisonous land snake.
‘Ant and Dec will have to keep their eyes peeled when on the beach and in the surrounding area. The snake has been spotted exactly where they hang out between shows and brown snakes are not to be messed with,’ a source from the show claimed.
‘Snakes are part of Aussie life but it is still scary to think one of these was slithering around so close by,’ they added to The Mirror.
The Eastern Brown Snake, which may grow to be seven feet (two metres) long, is notable for its defensive displays, which include coiling its neck into a ‘S’ form, rising off the ground, and opening its jaws, ready to attack.
They are responsible for more snakebite deaths in Australia than any other category of snakes, and they are also highly swift, with the ability to outrun a human running at full speed.
According to the Australian Museum, its bite can cause gradual paralysis and excessive bleeding, with the first bite being painless and frequently difficult to detect – however medical assistance should be sought immediately.
A brown snake was removed from the I’m A Celebrity camp in 2017 before it posed a threat to the cast and crew.
Medic Bob McCarron revealed at the time: ‘We keep it quiet from the celebrities in camp but last week I removed a venomous brown tree snake actually climbing along the drawbridge where Ant and Dec walk every day.’
While ITV is yet to reveal the entire cast list for the 2023 season, This Morning personality Jodie Gibson has already been sighted at the airport, along with former politician Nigel Farage, who is said to have signed a deal for more than £1 million.
Britney Spears‘ sister Jamie Lynn, First Dates actor Fred Sirieix, horse racing great Frankie Dettori, Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, and Marvin Humes are also in the running.
