Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn, key cast members of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, show interest in becoming a part of the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks… fingers crossed that enough fans rally behind this idea to make it possible!
News of a one-off Lower Decks crossover hitting Strange New Worlds’ season 2 left fans thrilled, as it meant that actors from the animated series would be seen in live roles for the first time.
Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid are expected to feature in the series as Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler. Who knows, maybe some from the series about Captain Christopher Pike (played by Anson), Una (Rebecca) and the USS Enterprise crew could be next?
During a recent conversation with Anson and Rebecca in London, the two actors disclosed their initial thoughts on the crossover and the likelihood of reciprocating the action in the future.
The stars’ first thoughts on a Lower Decks intersection were that the show would be a mix of live-action and animated sequences in the vein of Space Jam. So, was that what they were picturing?
‘Definitely. It was like seeing a cartoon bunny on a basketball court,’ confessed Anson, 50, as Rebecca, 50, compared it to Roger Rabbit.
