Despite feeling ‘very afraid’ beforehand, the Pointless broadcaster, 53, remained dubious that his demons were entirely exorcise following the ritual.
Alexander Armstrong in Sri Lanka, which he highlighted on Thursday’s The One Show, through the spiritual exercise for his Channel 5 travel series Alexander Armstrong.
After discussing his experiences in the South Asian country, Roman Kemp, 30, and Alex Jones, 46, of the BBC series interrogated him about the exorcism.
‘Now, first and foremost, what was involved?’ Roman inquired of the Classic FM host. Second, how did your wife react?’
Alexander responded that his wife hasn’t seen the entire programme yet, but he did explain how he came to get his demons exorcised.
He revealed: ‘Somebody approached me in this shop where they had all these masks, they have these traditional masks, which are part of a psychotherapy type thing where you’re given a particular personality type and a various type of mask, and the idea is that you dance around with this mask.
‘Anyway, I went along to this thing quite scared and I had to sit wrapped up in it in a blanket watching this extraordinary show that was put on for my benefit alone, musicians banging drums and things.
‘And it began to dawn on me about half an hour into it that actually this was a sort of comic show really. It was part circus and part entertainment, or cabaret, really.
‘It was beautifully done and then I relaxed I really enjoyed it.’
Roman asked: ‘So do you feel like the demons have been exorcised?’
Alexander replied to a chorus laughs in the studio: ‘I don’t know but I had a great time.’
The One Show airs on BBC One on weekdays at 7pm.
