Adam Hills said on Friday’s edition of The Last Leg that he may have overstepped the line with a dangerous submarine joke, but he went forward with it nonetheless.
The cruel joke was thrown by the 52-year-old comic barely one week after it was reported that the lost Titan submarine exploded during a trip to the Titanic, killing five people.
The one-liner was made during a discussion of The Wagner’s recent failed attack on Vladimir Putin’s authority, with Adam pointing out ‘it’s hard to know who to cheer for’.
‘This is like the time Jeremy Clarkson punched Piers Morgan,’ he continued. ‘This is like Elon Musk taking on Mark Zuckerberg in a cage fight.
‘Most of the planet is thinking, “yeah instead of a cage, can it be a submarine?”’
Although the audience was quick to let out a collective ‘ooft’, Adam then doubled down.
‘Yeah okay, probably shouldn’t have gone there… but nor should they,’ he quipped.
Somewhat surprised by Adam’s joke, fellow presenter Alex Brooker remarked: ‘Tell you what, I love it when you just get back from Australia. You don’t give a f*ck.
‘You’re like Mario when he walks into a mushroom.’
Adam’s nasty joke was also observed by spectators, but many appeared to approve of it.

On board the deep-sea yacht Titan, British adventurer Hamish Harding, father and son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood, and OceanGate Expeditions’ chief executive, Stockton Rush, and French national Paul-Henri Nargeolet were murdered.
On June 18, the submersible lost communication with tour operator OceanGate Expeditions an hour and 45 minutes into the two-hour descend to the Titanic debris.
Eight hours after communication was lost, the vessel went missing.
The Last Leg airs Fridays at 10pm on Channel 4.
